So while driving around Oahu, I noticed that there were a ton of food trucks parked along the sides of the roads, scattered across the island. Namely.. shrimp trucks. They are in-your-face everywhere. You cannot go to Oahu without hitting up at least one shrimp truck!
I first heard about the Shrimp Shack while watching the Food Network, and suggested going there for lunch. We ordered the pan-fried garlic shrimp, spicy shrimp, and the poached garlic buttery beer mussels. Let's just say.. it wasn't quite Food Network worthy, nor an hour and a half drive. It was good, but I've had better. Though I gotta say.. the mussels were an exception. They were pretty bomb. Drenched in buttery, garlic goodness. Oh and beer. My cousin and many friends have also suggested Giovanni's, which I will definitely hit up the next time I'm in town. Seems promising!
For those of you who have been to Hawaii, or is from there.. what are some of your favorite island eats? I would love to check those out next time! I sadly did not get to try many eateries while I was here, as my grandma and mom cooked quite a few meals. Yup, that's my family vacation for ya. Fried rice at Hanauma Bay? Nothing new.
