Thread of Hope ♥

As some of you may already know, Thread of Hope is hosting a Fashion bazaar on June 1st! We'll be having pre-loved (and brand new generously sponsored by THE BOARD OF TRADE CO. & TODAY) clothing items, accessories, for sale! All the proceeds will go towards a women's vocational training center in Abohar, India. (Check out the outfits above. It's all up for SALE at the event, so if you see something you like.. make sure you make it out to our event!)

Thread of Hope is a personal project that was started last year. This project was birthed from a mission trip to India almost a year ago, and is something very close and dear to my heart. During our trip there, we were astounded and appalled by the social injustice and oppression that Dalit women face on a day to day basis. To hear and read about it is one thing. But to see it in the flesh is something else. We felt compelled to empower, enrich and support our sisters in order to free them from poverty and injustice. 

Currently, we are in the process of fundraising to build a women's vocational center in Abohar, India that offers training in tailoring and provides them with mirco-financing opportunities. This center will be built in a village, and it will also give the women from the neighbouring villages an opportunity to participate in the programs, build friendships with one another, and have access to a safe support network. (Yay for sisterhood!) 

In partnership with Dalit Freedom Network Canada, our goal and dream is to build and establish a relationship with Dalit women by supporting them financially through our fundraising and awareness initiatives. We hope to be able to share their story, and for our friends, family and community to partner with us in this worthy cause. This is our first big event, and I sincerely hope to see you all there! XO
